Personal Statement

As a licensed clinical neuropsychologist at Houston Methodist Hospital, my career is dedicated to expanding access to culturally informed, evidence-based neuropsychological services for diverse adult and geriatric populations. My clinical and academic background focuses on the intersection of complex neurological presentations and cognitive interventions, specifically tailored to address the needs of individuals with dementia, movement disorders, and cerebrovascular disease.

My formal training included a two-year APPCN-accredited neuropsychology fellowship at UTHealth Houston, where I specialized in comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and cognitive rehabilitation. During this time, I spearheaded research investigating the relationship between subjective cognitive decline and objective performance, including longitudinal studies on cognitive outcomes following COVID-19 hospitalization. In my current clinical practice, I prioritize equitable care by conducting interpreter-mediated evaluations and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to serve patients with a wide range of neurodegenerative conditions.

My research portfolio encompasses cognitive aging, post-acute cognitive syndromes, and the impact of health disparities on neurocognitive outcomes. I have a proven track record of presenting at international conferences and publishing peer-reviewed research on topics ranging from resilience in aging to the neurocognitive effects of digital media. I am deeply committed to NIH-funded initiatives that aim to bridge the gap in quality of life and cognitive health for underserved populations.
